PRODUCT DETAILS
The Toobies-Shot system consists of a soft rubber tube slipped onto the leader of a fly line.
Then one or more shot is inserted into the tube with the Toobie Tool.  The shot are held in
place on the leader by the friction created between the shot being tightly encased in the tube
against the leader.

leader inside a piece of tube, and
  • Three different colored pieces of the tubing.

1.  Place a few shot on the magnetic "hot spot" on the Toobie Tool
will be there handy all day.
2.  Next, slide a half inch or so of plastic tubing onto your leader
before you tie on a fly.  Slide it up to the knot between your fly line and
leader for storage.
3. When you're ready to add weight to your leader, place one of the
shot on the magnetized end of the Toobie Tool.  Slide the plastic
tubing down onto your leader and insert the shot with the tool.
That's it!
  • Add and subtract weights as you need them, move the weight
system up or down your line, even over knots.  The Toobies-
    Shot will stay put.
  • Time to dry fly fish?  Push the shot out of the tube with your
fingernail and back onto the magnet on the Toobie Tool, slide
the tube back up on your nail knot and put on a dry fly.

TOOBIES-SHOT INSTALLED ON A LEADER
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Will I have any problems with the Toobies-Shot slipping down the leader while I'm fishing?
Not usually.  Although there are a few things that can happen to allow the Toobies-Shot to slip, they're not terminal like use
may slip, though Toobies are less likely to hang up than regular split shot.  Occasionally, a fish may strike the Toobies and
cause them to slip since they have a fairly organic appearance.  Otherwise, there are a few things outlined in the instruction
sheet trouble-shooting guide that can all be remedied.  The good new?  Unlike regular split shot, it's easy to just slide
Toobies back into place!

Do I have to carry the whole kit with me when I go to the stream?
No!  The best way to manage the kit is to put the Toobie Tool on a zinger and hang it out of the way on your vest where the
magnet won't become entangled with your nippers or forceps.  Put a few shot on the powerful, rare-earth neodymium
magnet, and they'll be there all day.  Since the shot that comes in the kit is confined to another magnet, it can also be
dropped into a pocket without a container.  Next, drop a couple of pieces of tubing into a fly box and you're ready to go fish.

Why are the shot not perfectly round?
Toobies-Shot are a very heavy, patented formulation of tungsten, iron, nickel, and other metals.  It is, of course, the presence
of iron which gives them their magnetic qualities and usefulness for fishing weight.  The special combination of some of the
other metals keeps them from rusting, corroding or tarnishing.  However, this patented process produces a shot that is not
perfectly round, but this in no way affects their performance.  The good news?  Sometimes they even have a little point
sticking out to one side.  Place this point so it is the first thing inserted into the tube and it will aide in the insertion process.

How many pieces of shot are in the kits and refills?
may vary by one or two pieces in the larger sizes or more pieces in the smaller sizes.  REMEMBER, this shot is RE-USABLE!
Kit # 1 has approximately 80 pieces of #6 shot and 122 pieces of #9 shot.
Kit #2 has approximately 40 pieces of #2 shot and 55 pieces of #4 shot
Refills:  Shot #2 has approximately 40 pieces (the largest size)
Shot #4 has approximately 55 pieces
Shot #6 has approximately 100 pieces
Shot #9 has approximately 200 pieces
Shot #14 has approximately 390 pieces (the smallest size)

What makes Toobies-Shot stay in place on my line?
When a shot is placed in the tubing, it creates friction by clamping the line between the shot and the tubing.  This holds the
shot in place while you are casting and fishing, but does not prevent the Toobies-Shot from being moved up or down the
leader - even over knots - with slight pressure.
